Produced in association with the Leopold Stokowski Society, this new release is taken from the live concert that Stokowski gave in Carnegie Hall, New York, on 25 September 1958. It includes the US Premiere of Vaughan Williams' last symphony. Percy Grainger was in the audience and the following day he wrote to the composer's widow: Stokowski's performance seemed a perfect one in every way and the exquisite beauty and cosmic quality of this immortal work struck me as being ideally realised.
