EIJI OUE MINNESOTA ORCHESTRA RR-87CD [HDCD] Leonard Bernstein's classic operetta CANDIDE is full of infectious music. A new orchestral suite from this magical score has been arranged by long-time Bernstein collaborator Charlie Harmon, and this is its WORLD PREMIERE RECORDING. EIJI OUE (a Bernstein protégé) and the MINNESOTA ORCHESTRA worked closely with the arranger in rehearsing and performing the suite prior to the recording, so they could bring to it a unique authority. Another PREMIERE: Bernstein's songs have until now been known and loved mainly by vocal connoisseurs. New orchestrations by Sid Ramin of FIVE SONGS, sung by rising mezzo BETH CLAYTON, will bring these musical delights to a much wider audience. Three Meditations from Bernstein's MASS feature ANTHONY ROSS, principal cellist of the Minnesota Orchestra, and the program has a rousing finish, the whimsical DIVERTIMENTO FOR ORCHESTRA.
