SYMPHONIC DANCES

The Utah Symphony Orchestra
Keith Lockhart

RR-105CD
[HDCD]

Keith Lockhart is one of America's best-known young conductors, especially for his performances and recordings as Music Director of the Boston Pops.

The Utah Symphony Orchestra has a long and distinguished recording history, with many titles on Angel, Vox and Reference Recordings, among others.

This CD includes a world-premiere recording of a colorful, rhythmically catchy piece by composer Gabriela Lena Frank.   Frank (b. 1972) is of Peruvian and Jewish heritage, and incorporates elements of both in her compositions, as in her prize-winning An American in Peru.

These audience-friendly and percussion-rich scores are a sure recipe for thrilling audiophile sonics, especially in "Prof." Johnson's transparent HDCD® recording.

This CD is the first release from "the new Reference Recordings."
