“Concerto Nicolò” for piano left hand and orchestra was commissioned especially for the legendary pianist Gary Graffman.   The lighthearted piece by Stanislaw Skrowaczewski is based on the famous 24th Caprice by Paganini.   This performance conducted by the composer can be considered definitive.

“Concerto for Orchestra” is a brilliantly scored work that is at least in part a gesture of respect for the music of Anton Bruckner, whose influence on Skrowaczewski's music, he says, has been “heavenly and overpowering.”   This magnificent new revision of the Concerto for Orchestra, for which Skrowaczewski was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, is destined to stand with others in the genre by Lutoslawski and Bartok.
