“A Selection from Tomas Örnberg's Blue Five
& The Swedish Jazz Kings”
Since my first LP for OPUS 3, I have considered it a privilege to record for recording engineer JAN-ERIC PERSSON and his label. His knowledge of recording technique is astounding and he's famous all around the world for the acoustic and natural sound on his recordings. We have been friends for 37 years now and I cooperated with him on 2 LPs on the Kenneth Label with Maggie's Blue Five (73) and Eva Taylor (76), an LP with the Weatherbird Jazz Band (81) for Stomp Off Records and since 1979 on 10 OPUS 3 productions as a musician, writer and/or producer.
I felt very honoured when he suggested the release of a selection of the music recorded on his label by Örnberg's Blue Five, The Swedish Jazz Kings and guests and asked me to choose my favourite tunes. My selection naturally includes tunes with my brilliantly talented partner of 40 years, BENT PERSSON, and my other favourite musicians: Kenny Davern, Roy Williams and Bob Barnard.
