  • The Foden’s Richardson Band has been in existence since the start of the last century.   In the year 2000 they celebrated 100 years of music making.
  • In March 2007 Fodens regained their title as North West Area Champions for the 14th time since the contest started which makes them the most successful band in the history of this contest. In May 2007 Fodens became the International Masters Champions for a record 6th time followed by victory in the Tameside Whit Marches in June for a record 6th consecutive year.
  • This disc will appeal to the large brass band audience worldwide.


  • The British style brass band, with its unique and characteristic sound, is one of this country’s greatest musical exports.   Much music has been written for the medium and there is a healthy growth in contemporary writing, spurred on by the competitiveness between top brass bands in the country that vie for championship titles each year.

    This is a widely varied and approachable disc showcasing the best of contemporary writing for genre displaying to maximum effect the vast range of sonorities available in the brass band ensemble.
