recording distinctive jazz for the listener and for the art itself MXJ 405 | ||
WITH TIM WARFIELD BRUCE BARTH DERRICK HODGE & DANA HALL TAKING CHANCES LIVE AT THE DAKOTA Taking Chances is my first live recording session as a leader and ironically, those are the first two words that came to my mind when I decided to pursue jazz as a profession. In 1997, when Bobby Watson introduced me to the music community, the Dakota Bar and Grill in St Paul, MN was one of the first venues we played and a few years later, it was one of the locations where Bobby's Midwest Shuffle was recorded. In 2002,1 performed at the new location of the Dakota Bar and Grill in downtown Minneapolis and instantly knew this was where I would someday want to record my live CD. The support and kindness of the owner, Lowell Pickett and his staff will never be forgotten. I hope this CD reflects the joy and happiness of my life as a professional jazz musician and music educator. - Terell
