Archguitar Baroque
Bach ~ Handel ~ Scarlatti ~ Vivaldi

Peter Blanchette, Archguitar
with Peter Michelini, Archguitar

DOR-93241 Cover This recording pairs Blanchette with fellow archguitarist Peter Michelini, with whom Blanchette made extensive tours of Europe.   Much of it was recorded during one of those tours in the wee hours at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Copenhagen, and most of the arrangements are by Blanchette.

It's one of those delightful historical footnotes that three of the composers represented on this disc were born in 1685.   Two of them - Bach and Scarlatti - had to compete against the legacies of musical fathers, while both Handel and Vivaldi had fathers who were barbers.   Handel's dad disliked music and envisioned a career for his son as a lawyer, while Vivaldi's was a violin-playing musical enthusiast who eventually left the hair salon for a musical one at St. Mark's in his native Venice.
