had miles met maurice
Peter Blanchette, Archguitar with The Virtual Consort
Some seemingly fanciful musical meetings aren't really all that far-fetched. Beethoven never was destined to meet Charlie Parker, of course, but Horowitz did go to see Art Tatum perform. Ravel never jammed with Miles Davis, of course, but he met George Gershwin and was very interested in American jazz. Miles and Maurice both spun melodies in what could be termed an impressionistic manner, and it was this commonality - as well as the obvious contrasts between their styles of music - that inspired Peter Blanchette and Charlie Schneeweis to come up with the piece that gives this CD its title.
