Dorian RecordingsxCD-90254KERI-LYNN WILSON, CONDUCTOR Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela In choosing the repertoire for this album, we aspired to capture the rhythmic essence and passion that characterizes contemporary Latin American music. We selected shorter works imbued with great energy. The album features some lesser-known compositions by Latin America's most distinguished composers, such as Revueltas' Janitzio, composed in 1933. The recording also presents modern jewels that have rarely been recorded before, like the title composition, Danzón No. 2, by the young Mexican composer Arturo Marquez. Danzón explodes with an addictive blend of shifting melodies and rhythms. Pulsating rhythms define all of these compositions, yet each also has it's own distinctive folkloric spirit or melodic expression - Keri-Lynn Wilson
