DOR-90102 Cover - 16216 Bytes Chopin: Ballade No. 3 in A-Flat Major, Op. 47
Written in 1840-41, during a period of relative happiness and contentment in Chopin's life, the Third Ballade in A-Flat Major is perhaps the most lighthearted and untroubled in spirit of the four Ballades.   The opening theme is elegant, graceful and captivating.
Tchaikovsky: The Seasons Op. 37a
Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Seasons", Op. 37a - twelve short piano pieces corresponding to the twelve months of the year - were written by the 36 year-old composer in 1876 at the request of N.M. Bernard, the editor of the St.Petersburg music magazine, Nuvellist.
Kymlicka: Four Valses
The Four Valses, written in 1984 were originally a set of six.   After I had studied them for about a month, Milan (Kymlicka) asked for their return, as he put it, to make a few "corrections".   To my great surprise, I was given back not six but four almost entirely different pieces. Still, these short Valses are gems, tremendous fun to play and always a great success with audiences wherever they are performed.
