Latin music legends Candido Camera and Graciela are two of the last
survivors of the Cubop movement of the late '40's, which fused Cuban rhythms with
big-band Jazz.
Together these masters of the art bring a unique style and easy camaraderie to
this new recording, highlighted by Graciela's call-and-response interplay with the
band and Candido's subtle wizardry on the conga drums. What you have is
inolvidable, unforgettable.
Long before Celia Cruz was anointed the Queen of Salsa, Graciela was the
First Lady of Latin Jazz. She is best-known as the lead vocalist for Machito and his Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra from 1943 through the 70s.
Candido has collaborated with almost all of the great jazz masters, including
Clark Terry, Dinah Washington, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton,
Mongo Santamaria, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, and Tito Puente.
