- Strings have long held a fascination for jazz musicians. From bandleader Paul Whiteman, a violin and viola player who set out to "make a lady out of jazz," and the "Bird with Strings" sessions in the early 50s, jazz musicians have been intrigued by both the symbolism and the sound of strings - with mixed results. What sets The Jazz Kamerata apart is Carlos Franzetti.
