What Matters
| |
Sara K. returns after the international success of her previous CD/DVD release No Cover (JD185), with her sixth Chesky Records release What Matters. An effortless, singer's songwriter, Sara's voice is evocative of the desolate heat of the American Southwest that she calls home This disc features ten original songs penned by Sara, her most poignant writing to date, plus haunting covers of Steven Stills' "Johnny's Garden" and Procol Harum's "Whiter Shade Of Pale". Sara's rich vocal style on the album is complemented by Bruce Dunlap's mesmerizing acoustic guitar work. In addition, Sara is accompanied by a unique backdrop od bass, drums and accordian. The raw and gritty "He Got You" displays Sara's down-and-dirty blues approach The dark, dissonant vocal work on "Because" is beautifully layered with the acoustic guitar, as a faint accordian cries in the background. "Ivory Cage", a tender, acoustic folk ballad, tells a tale of the struggles and adversities of love and life. What Matters finds Sara's voice and acoustic accompaniment brilliantly captured with Chesky's signature 96kHz/24-bit recording technology, and you'll be astonished by the tone variation that can be heard in her beautiful voice. |
