BICYCLE [JD 147]
|
Making a CD is strange. It's not unlike my fantasy of riding an elephant: hold on, keep your eyes open, and be ready to duck. Recording is always the furthest thing from my mind until, in an instant, it is the only thing in my mind. This happened to me last August while I was petting my dog and watching the lawn go brown. Poof! Time to assemble a team, get to the studio, and go to work. That's how "Bicycle" came to be. Although I write most of the songs, all of the checks, and sing and play on every track, the CD is not mine. I'm it's parent, not it's owner. I change diapers, bandage skinned knees, and lie awake nights in fretful concern; all to no discernable effect. In the end, a year after it began, "Bicycle" is done. I believe I was able, a little bit, to stand back and let it happen. Each session (and there were many) was a total surprise and adventure. I love the songs and I love the people with whom I worked. I guess it's no surprise that I'm very fond of the end result. Thanks for the listen. Liv Autumn 1995, Kingston, NY |
