Composer Biography
David Baker has written over 2,000 works, ranging from jazz to classical sonatas and film scores. He has served as conductor and musical director of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and is Chairman of the Jazz Department at Indiana University. Nominated both for a Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy, he was the third inductee of the Jazz Education Hall of Fame and has been President of the National Jazz Service Organization. He has more than 65 recordings, 70 books, and 400 articles to his credit.
Artist Biography
James Campbell has performed and recorded throughout the world since his professional debut in 1972, appearing as soloist with over fifty orchestras including the London Symphony, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic, and Toronto Symphony. His recording of the Brahms Clarinet Quintet with the Allegri String Quartet (Cala Records CACD1009) was chosen as the best available by The London Times and BBC Music Magazine. He has been Professor of Music at the Indiana University School of Music since 1988.
