VINCENT BOUCHER À L’ORGUE Vincent Boucher Scarlatti, Bach,Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Daquin, Pärt, Tomasi, Tournemire ACD2 3016 • Organist Vincent Boucher has recorded with ATMA Classique for 10 years, and to mark this milestone, we are pleased to release a compilation album selected from organ works written over the past 300 years.   Eight composers, ranging from Johann Pachelbel to Arvo Pärt, are represented.   Performed on some of the most significant organs made in Canada during the past half century, these works highlight the beauty of these instruments and the skill of Casavant Frères, Karl Wilhelm, Rudolf Von Beckarath, Juget-Sinclair, and Helmuth Wolff — craftsmen who have helped make Montreal the organ capital of North America. • Vincent Boucher's first recording for ATMA was an album of keyboard sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti. Released in 2005, it was rated 10/10 by the American online magazine Classicstoday.com, and received a Supersonic Award by the Belgian magazine Pizzicato. • Since February 1st, 2015, Vincent Boucher has been the official organist at Saint Joseph's Oratory of Montreal, playing for masses and celebrations on the oratory's two organs. One of them, the Beckerath, boasts 78 stops and 5,811 pipes on five keyboards, making it the largest purely mechanical-action organ in the country. Boucher also continues a great tradition by serving as artistic director of the oratory's Sunday organ concert series, now in its 55th season. • Vincent Boucher enjoys a true double career, pursuing both music and finance professionally. He has completed a doctorate in performance at McGill University with John Grew and WIlliam Porter; furthered his studies in Vienna with Michael Gailit, and later in Paris with Pierre Pincemaille; and has taken private classes with James David Christie. In 2000, he won first prize in the John Robb Organ Competition. In 2002, he won the Académie de musique du Québec's Prix d'Europe, which had not been given to an organist since 1966.
