 Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen – Kindertotenlieder (Chamber Version) Alma Mahler Lieder selection  Julie Boulianne, mezzo-soprano Ensemble Orford - Jean-François Rivest, conductor Marc Bourdeau, piano ACD2 2665 • ATMA presents the first solo recording of Canadian mezzo-soprano Julie Boulianne, who is featured in a rarely recorded chamber version of Mahler's two famous song cycles: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Kindertotenlieder. Julie Boulianne is accompanied by the Orford Ensemble under the direction of Canadian conductor Jean- François Rivest. This recording also features Ms. Boulianne singing a selection of Alma Mahler's Lieder accompanied by pianist Marc Bourdeau. • Recognised for her musical savvy and great sensitivity, Julie Boulianne is one of today's most promising singers. 2011 was especially rich in prestigious engagements for Boulianne, including her debut performances in three roles over three months at the Metropolitan Opera in New York: Diane in Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, Stefano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and Isolier in Rossini's Le comte Ory. During these performances, she shared the stage with renowned singers Placido Domingo, Juan Diego Flórez, and Susan Graham. • Julie Boulianne graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York and the Schulich Music School of McGill University in Montreal. She completed her training with Renata Scotto, Roger Vignoles and William Christie. She is the recipient of many prizes and awards, including le Prix de la Chambre professionnelle des directeurs d'opéra as most promising finalist at the International Music Competition in Montréal in 2007, as well as the Silverman Prize, offered by International Vocal Art.
