Everything started with a trip to Quebec by Francis Dubois, Theodore's great grandson. A concert, a violin concerto A happy, chance meeting with Gaston Germain, well known as a singer and teacher, leads to a conversation that touches on the somewhat-forgotten music of Théodore Dubois, on his songs. A brilliant idea: get in touch with Marc Boucher, a former student of Gaston Germain and a talented baritone, who is always on the lookout for music to discover. From France, a shipment of scores, a sampling of the work of Théodore Dubois. From Marc, an immediate and enthusiastic response. In the Dubois family's chest of treasures, Marc Boucher discovers a horde of all the songs, and decides to record a CD. He shares his discoveries with Michel Brousseau who, in turn, visits the family and delves into the scores of this too-long neglected composer. Michel brings back with him choral works such as the Messe de la Délivrance and the Messe solennelle de saint Remi, to share this extraordinary music with the choirs he conducts. On reading this music, Michel Brousseau is confirmed in his enthusiasm. In May 2008, he conducts the North American premiere of the Messe solennelle de saint Remi. And in 2009, the Messe de la Detivrance is performed at four concerts: in Montreal, Sainte-Therese, Ottawa and Mont-Tremblant, after a century of silence.
