Works by Manuel Maria Ponce

• The collaboration between Manuel Maria Ponce (1882-1948) and Andrés Segovia is one of the most important in guitar history.   From their first meeting in 1923 until Ponce's death in 1948, the artists collaborated on an impressive list of compositions.   These works include: six sonatas, three sets of variations, two suites, twenty-four preludes, a concerto, and several other solo pieces.   Most of Ponce's solo guitar works were composed during his time in Paris (1924-1933), where he was studying with Paul Dukas at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.   Segovia was also living in Paris during this time, facilitating the collaborative process.

• Classical guitarist Patrick Kearney represents a rare balance between sheer technical virtuosity and intense musicality.   Born in Montreal, he won his first national competition at the age of ten (in Ottawa). Kearney completed the Superior Diploma in Performance at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.   Upon his return from France in 1993, Patrick began his professional career as an international competitor and touring artist, winning top prizes in several international competitions.   Patrick has performed in concert and conducted master classes on numerous tours throughout Europe, the United States, and Canada.   He currently teaches at Concordia University in Montreal.
