• The first ATMA recording by l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec (Québec City Symphony Orchestra) has been a huge success. A favourite of both commercial and public radio programmers, it featured piano works of Debussy orchestrated by both conductors and other composers. During 2007 Debussy Children’s Corner was ATMA’s best-selling release in both the USA and the UK.
• For this new recording, Artistic Director Yoav Talmi again leads the OSQ in a program of transcriptions, this
time of works by Johann Sebastian Bach. As on the Debussy disc, Talmi has not necessarily chosen the transcriptions you might expect. Here we have Stokowski’s Toccata & Fugue in D minor, of course, but also William Walton, Edward Elgar, Gustav Holst, and even Anton Webern and Ottorino Respighi.
• Founded in 1902, l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec is Canada’s oldest professional orchestra. Israeli born conductor Yoav Talmi has been their Artistic Director since July 1998.
