• This cycle is unique in two significant ways: in keeping with the latest scholarship on Bach's own performances, the choral sections are sung by the four soloists, one to a part; and, released on SACD, it is the first-ever Bach cantata cycle to be recorded in surround sound.
• The Festival Montréal Baroque is held every year in Old Montréal, with performance venues in churches, factories, and warehouse that actually date to the Baroque. The Festival has gained an international reputation amongst Early Music performers, and draws both artists and audience from around the world.
• This performance features a German soprano, and Canadian alto, an English tenor, and a Dutch bass, with an all-star international orchestra under the direction of an American conductor and continuo player.
• Produced by Johanne Goyette and recorded by Anne-Marie Sylvestre at the Church of Saint-Augustin de Mirabel (Québec), Canada, June 26-29, 2007. Edited and prepared for SACD in ATMA's in-house studio by Anne-Marie Sylvestre.
