THÉODORE DUBOIS
Quatuor et quintette avec piano
Trio Hochelga
Jean-Luc Plourde - alto | viola
Philippe Magnan - hautbois | oboe
ACD2 2385
This recording is the second in a critically acclaimed series entitled Découvertes 1890-1939 featuring pianist Stéphane Lemelin and his colleagues Anne Robert and Paul Marleyn, who together form the Trio Hochelaga, performing works by little-known French composers. They are joined by oboist Philippe Magnan and violist Jean-Luc Plourde to perform a quartet and quintet by Théodore Dubois, a leading light of the French musical establishment at the beginning of the 20th century. ATMA Classique's 2006 recording of music by Dubois was praised for its finely wrought passion by the Globe and Mail.
