The series «Musique française: Découvertes 1890-1939» presents rarely recorded French music and sheds light on areas of the musical landscape of France during a pivotal era. The series to date has focused on Théodore Dubois, Joseph-Guy Ropartz, René-Emmanuel Bâton, and Georges Migot. Pianist Stéphane Lemelin is the director of «Musique française: Découvertes 1890-1939», and has appeared on all the discs in the series to date, as well as several other recordings on ATMA Classique. Recognized for deeply sensitive playing, sweetness of sound, dexterity and wise shaping (The Strad, London), violinist Anne Robert has received many awards and played first violin with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra for twelve years. Benoît Loiselle has been solo cellist for Les Violons du Roy since 2002, while also maintaining a career as soloist and chamber musician. On ATMA he is perhaps best-known as soloist on the Juno Award-winning disc Piazzolla with Les Violons du Roy. Produced, recorded and edited by Johanne Goyette at the Salle Françoys-Bernier du Domaine Forget, St-Irénée (Québec), Canada, May 16-18, 2005.
