Founded in 1989 by pianist and conductor Lorraine Vaillancourt, the NEM is a 15-piece chamber orchestra. It delivers a convincing interpretation of today's musics by granting it the time and attention it deserves.
Micheal Oesterle, Serge Provost and Gilles Tremblay represent three generations of Quebec composers. Here they offer us works that, without going into detail, can evoke the happy story of Einstein's celebrated discovery, E=MC2 (Annus mirabilis), or suggest architectural plans gleaned from the Venice Biennale (Les ruines du paradis), or even translate into sound a beloved poem (À quelle heure commence le temps?).
