L'ensemble Les Boréades de Montréal was founded by Francis Colpron in 1991. The ensemble, performing on period instruments, seeks inspiration from the extravagantly rich and varied repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Well known in Quebec and beyond, the individual members of the ensemble have been recipients of grants from Canada cultural organizations including the Canada Arts Council and the Ministère de la culture du Québec. They perform regularly as soloists with other groups such as the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Tafelmusik of Toronto, Opera Atelier of Toronto, Les Violons du Roy of Quebec and L'Ensemble Stradivaria of France. Under the name Les Agrémens several members of the ensemble won the third prize in interpretation at the prestigious Festival Musica Antiqua at Brugge in Belgium in 1993. …
